Joaquín Clausell

The transformed landscape

About the project

Joaquín Clausell was a Mexican painter and social activist from Campeche, Mexico. He committed himself to political cartooning and journalism as a form of protest against Porfirio Diaz's dictatorship. He was forced into exile in Europe, where he learned about impressionism.

This interactive display features a collection of publications and personal letters. Explore Joaquin Clausell's catalog of art, organized into seascapes, rivers and lakes, and fields and forests. Learn about Impressionism, choose three paintings, and color them. The permanent exhibition is located at Casa de los Gobernadores in the city of Campeche, Mexico.
